Petals Of Love

AWBW collaborated with Texas Oncology and Texas Breast Specialist Clinic on an initiative to bring smiles on the faces of women undergoing cancer treatment. This initiative, known as "Petals Of Love" aims to create meaningful ways to bring smiles to the faces of these strong women, who are facing serious health challenges. This initiative involves a wide array of actions like providing flowers, dinner to favorite restaurant, massage and spa days.

"The women are always surprised".said Rachel, an Angel Volunteer, "The smiles on their faces could lighten up the darkest skies". For Queen Esther, blessing the women was very emotional. "Their frail arms around my neck as they hugged me was a medal of honor"

It is indeed good to give but to give someone who will never pay you back is priceless!

Giving hope to cancer patients with thoughtful gifts can be a meaningful way of showing your support and care for them. Here are some gift ideas on how to bring sunshine into their lives:

  1. Skincare Products: For patients undergoing cancer treatment, skin can often become dry, inflamed, or sensitive due to the side effects of treatment. Skincare products that are gentle, restorative, and rehydrating can be a thoughtful gift. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizing Cream, for example, has been recommended by professionals and survivors. It's free of added fragrances, increases hydration by upwards of 50% in as little as six hours, and is engineered for sensitive skin.

  2. Headwear: Many cancer patients experience hair loss, which can be an intensely personal matter. One way to address this in a sensitive manner is through gifts such as a scarf cap or a sun hat. These gifts can help conceal hair loss while also offering skin protection, and can also provide a touch of style.

  3. Meal Delivery Gift Cards: Cancer treatment can often leave patients feeling exhausted, which can make cooking a challenge. A gift card for a meal delivery service could provide a practical solution, ensuring the patient has access to nutritious meals without the energy expenditure of preparing them.

  4. Comfortable Clothes: Comfort is paramount during treatment, and items such as soft socks, slippers, pajamas, robes, or blankets can make a big difference. Sheepskin, chenille items, or a warm, soft shawl can provide much-needed coziness.

  5. Stress Relievers: Aromatherapy products might help cancer patients deal with symptoms such as sleep issues, nausea, and anxiety. But do ask about any sensitivities to certain smells before purchasing these products.

  6. Entertainment Options: Activity levels often decrease during cancer treatment, so books, puzzles, music, or streaming service subscriptions could help pass the time and provide distraction.

  7. Homemade Meals or Restaurant Gift Cards: Similar to meal delivery gift cards, homemade meals or restaurant gift cards can also help take a huge burden off a patient.

  8. Throw Them a Party: Celebrating victories, big or small, is important. A surprise party with their loved ones could help uplift their spirits.

Remember, the most meaningful gifts are those given with consideration for the recipient's personal preferences and comfort.
